International Earth Day was founded by John McConnell, of Davis City, Iowa. In September, 1969, he proposed the establishment of Earth Day to the San Francisco, California Board of Supervisors. After approval, he gained support from many others, including then UN General Secretary, U Thant.

In 1970, McConnell wrote an Earth Day Proclamation which was ultimately signed by UN Secretary General U Thant on March 21, 1971.

Octomom Gets Movie Offer

In the news this past week Fox News reported that "Octomom" Suleman got a million dollar movie offer from the fine folks at Vivid. You can read about it here and here. If you are unfamiliar with Vivid they are the ones behind fine cinematic releases such as Basic Oral Training, Trannyville, Ass Traffic, The American MILF Series, The subject of a previous post Faithless, and many other fine movies. Where to begin with this story? How about with the name Octomom? I'm not sure I want to see any porn movie with the star Octomom. That sounds like something you would see in one of those anime porn movies that involves rape and tentacles. I'm also not sure I want to see a lady who has just given birth to eight kids naked. Anyway the movie is supposed to be Octomom in eight scenes with eight different guys. Nice!! I got to say I love this quote by Vivid CEO Stephen Hirsch:

"She’s struggling financially and this is a woman who wants to provide for her kids," Hirsch said. "This way she can hold her head high and not be using taxpayers money to support her family."

That is a classic. One way to be able to hold your head up high and support your kids on your own is by making a porn with eight other dudes. You got to love the porn industry. It is probably the only job where a single mom of 14 kids on welfare will get a million dollar paycheck.

In this story on Fox News the flight attendants for Spirit Air are not to happy with the airlines current advertisements. The flight attendants feel the ads are to sexually suggestive and offensive. They ads have lines like MILF, Many Islands Low Fares, BSD Big Spirit Deals, and the threesome special. I'm sorry but the advertisement department deserves a raise, the MILF ad is pure genius. Once again a group got their knickers in a twist and can't distinguish between humor and reality. Spirit flight attendants, chill out and get a sense of humor. Good news in an email sent by Gen Con Indy:

Gen Con Scheduled to Emerge from Chapter 11!Gen Con LLC announced today that the US Bankruptcy Court of Western Washington has confirmed the company’s plan of reorganization and approved the company’s rejection of a hostile takeover bid.“This is bright day for us”, said Adrian Swartout, CEO of Gen Con. “The entire team is looking forward to 2009 and continuing our growth as a stronger, more focused company. Our emergence from Chapter 11 is a testament to the skill and perseverance of our employees and the strength of the phenomenal Gen Con brand. Everyone here is excited to begin working outside of Chapter 11.”Since filing for bankruptcy protection in February of 2008, Gen Con has significantly reduced its expenses and increased its cash position. The company’s cash flow is positive and prospects have never looked better. Under the confirmed plan, Gen Con will pay all of it creditors in full over time and will continue to operate. A three-member Advisory Committee will assist the company and its board, and Peter Adkison will retain ownership. “This is an extremely successful case,” said Shelly Crocker of Crocker Kuno, Gen Con’s bankruptcy attorney, “largely due to the efforts of Ms. Swartout and her team, and the cooperation of the Creditors’ Committee.”Gen Con Indy 2009 will prove to be one of the best shows yet with thousands of events and hundreds of exhibitors. Heroscape: Release of Wave 9 Confirmed for Summer

I know this has been out for a while, I just got around to passing it on. Here is a post from December on Heroscapers:

I recently received an email from Paul Barclay, our lead contact at Wizards of the Coast. Paul had this to say:Wave 9 is confirmed for Summer 2009. There's no set release date yet, but given the current production schedule, I'd expect it in June or July. There's no guarantee of it being in WalMart, but they've been happy with how Wave 8 has performed so far this holiday season, so that’s looking promising too. And, to be clear, Wave 9 will come out no matter what happens with WalMart.Happy Christmas!
