WIZKIDS’ ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF NEW ORGANIZED PLAY PROGRAM

Some interesting news from Wizkids:

WIZKIDS’ ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OFNEW ORGANIZED PLAY PROGRAM!
October 26, 2007 (SEATTLE) — WizKids Inc. announces the launch of its new Organized Play Program, offering new features like Casual Play events and player ratings and rankings to be integrated across all game lines.
“Retailers and consumers alike have asked for a system that tracks events and ranks players,” said Joe Hauck, WizKids® EVP of Sales, Marketing and Product Development. “This is the beginning of a fantastic Organized Play Program that not only tracks events and ranks players, but will give players more options and easier ways to compete and build communities.”
The WizKids Organized Play Program is designed to foster community and healthy competition among players and collectors of WizKids games. With a new event scheduling option, Casual Events, casual pick-up games can be recorded with the WizKids Organized Play Program during or after the event. This allows registered venues and event organizers greater flexibility in scheduling events.
WizKids will begin the Organized Play Program with Star Wars PocketModel TCG: Ground Assault and Halo ActionClix events, which will be scheduled in all formats beginning November 1, 2007. Players participating in sanctioned Ground Assault and Halo ActionClix events will receive ratings and rankings points.
WizKids Approved Play system will now be known as the Organized Play Program. WizKids maintains an informational website regarding its promotions and organized play activities, as well as active discussion forums at http://www.wizkidsgames.com/. WizKids offers free online registration to make full use of these resources, but a great deal of information is available to non-program participants. Any questions or comments regarding the Organized Play Program should be directed to organizedplay@wizkidsgames.com, organizedplayEU@wizkidsgames.com, or organizedplayROW@wizkidsgames.com (all Approved Play email addresses will be redirected to Organized Play email accounts).

Congratulations B.C. Lions

The British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League, clinched their division over the weekend and got a first round bye in the playoffs. The Lions will end the season with their best record in franchise history, right now they are 13-3-1 and a win in the final week will make it even better.

Another good story from the CFL is that the Saskatshewan Roughriders will host their first home playoff game in 20 years. Tickets for the game sold out in 25 minutes.

Massive Win-Chiu-Woo Giveaway!

If you did not get to go to Gen Con or the San Diego Comic Con then get over to the Heroscapers site. Here is your chance to get a Master Win-Chiu-Woo!! This is posted at Heroscapers.com:

Thanks to our good friends at Hasbro, Heroscapers.com presents the Massive Win-Chiu-Woo Giveaway! We are giving away a whopping 40 Master Woos straight into the hands of the fans. Master Win-Chiu-Woo was this year’s exclusive Comic-Con and Gen-Con giveaway and is very hard to get ahold of without paying big money on eBay.
How do I win? Well I’m glad you asked! If you are a site supporter, meaning you’ve given $5 or more to the site anytime in the past or do so before the contest ends, you can enter by replying to the forum post found HERE. 20 Master Woos will be given away to the much smaller pool of Site Supporters as a token of appreciation for your aid in keeping the site up and running.

If you are not a site supporter you can still win. Simply comment on this article. Site supporters can enter both the site supporter drawing and the open drawing.
Please if you’ve already gotten a hold of a Win-Chiu-Woo refrain from entering the contest so that we can be sure they all go out to those who are Wooless. Please if you’re just going to turn around and eBay it, we beg of you don’t enter.
NOTE: We can track if you’ve entered more than once under multiple names and doing so will disqualify you.
NOTE 2: Those outside the US are welcome to enter, however if you win I’ll have to ask that you pay for the shipping costs.

This is a great chance to get one, especially considering the cheapest I've seen one go on Ebay is $25. Look at promos and exclusives from previous years. You can't touch Sir Hawthorne for less than $100, Nerak the Glacian Swog Rider is in the $30 - $50 range and going up, the Black Onyx Vipers are going from $30 - $50 also. It's only a matter of time before Master Woo's price goes up.

Nigh Fusion is the Final Dreamblade set

For those of you who are miniature gamers it was announced that Night Fusion will be the final Dreamblade set. Here is a quote form WOTC:

Support for the game will continue. We will continue with Edge tournaments for the remainder of 2007. Retailers will be able to sanction Dreamblade for 2008, and we will reevaluate at this time next year for 2009. We are also currently planning an Open Championship for Dreamblade in 2008 and will share more details as we get closer.

It seems odd to me that they would still be having a championship for a discontinued game. I tried Dreamblade at Gen Con and thought it was a good game. It wasn't anything I wanted to get in to but it was fun to play.

Saturday Night X-Crawl at Gen Con

Brendon LaSalle ran another X-Crawl for the Short Bus Adventurers. This is the second year we have done this, another great time was had by all. He ran us through the soon to be released Hollywood Crawl, hosted by DJ Guy Diamond. We always seem to run out of time before we get through the crawl. By the way on the third picture that's my character laying a smack down on DJ Guy Diamond's creature. If you haven't had a chance to play X-Crawl, pick it up and give it a shot. It is a lot of fun to play. I know this post is really late, better late then never.

GO ROCKIES!!!

I'll be rooting for the Rockies in this year's World Series. It's not that I'm a huge Rockies fan but since they are playing the Boston I-Wanna-Be-The-Yankees Red Sox I'll choose the Rockies. The Rockies have a better story this year, they kicked major butt to even make the playoffs then rolled over everyone who was supposed to be there. You got to love an under dog.

Heroscape Replacement Figures

With all those miniatures it had to happen. I lost one of my Warriors of Ashra figures from Heroscape. I have been searching for a good replacement ever since. I found a couple that were OK but nothing that wowed me. I bought a Mage Knight Dungeons Starter the other day I won off Ebay. I bid on them every so often to get some new cool figures. I opened the starter and found the perfect replacement figure, Alsyn Vale. She looks like she belongs with the Warriors of Ashra. The paint scheme is different, but otherwise is a perfect match, except for the thong bare behind. I may have to keep my eyes open for more figures that look like they belong to Heroscape squads. This might be a good way to use multiple common squads but not have the same figures all over the board.

Free Heroscape Figure(s)!!!!

It has been confirmed that Toy R Us will be releasing a toy catalog October 28, and in it is an offer for free Heroscape figure(s). That is all that has been confirmed at this point. Rumor has it that this will be either an individual figure or a free booster when you purchase a master set. To bad they couldn't have done this for National Heroscape Day this Saturday.

Fat Dragon Game's HEX Adversary Pack 1 Released!

Every great pulp adventure has a great adversary...and Fat Dragon Games has them for you. Watch your players flee before the mighty T-Rex or try and battle their way past a group of Panzerkampftruppen to retrieve the Ark of the Covenant. This set includes two versions of Panzerkampftruppen, a T-Rex and a bonus model of the Ark of the Covenant. Each model is rendered in full color and are 300dpi for maximum detail. All models are designed for the novice card modeler and will be a hit at your next game.

Even though this is marketed to Hollow Earth Expeditions this would be way cool to use in a supers game. Can you think of anything heroes would love to smash more than giant Nazi robots?
