Deadpool the Movie
Deadpool the movie looks like it's going to happen. I'm not talking about the one with Clint Eastwood, I'm talking about the Merc with a mouth from the comics. Here's the info I got in a recent email:
Rumors have been abound for weeks, but it would seem that Deadpool will bemaking his big-screed debut after all in the upcoming Wolverine Movie, tobe played by Ryan Reynolds. Not a bad casting choice - but the questionremains: just what does a yellow voice sound like, anyway? This isoutstanding news for Deadpool fans, who will no doubt be nervously waitingto see if the Merc With a Mouth can actually work on the big screen. Alsoconfirmed for the film was John Wraith (played by will.i.am) and Gambit(played by Taylor Kisch).

Carmen Kontur-Gronquist Loses Job as Mayor
Looks like the voters in Arlington voted to recall their lingerie posing mayor in a recall vote 142-139. Was that ever close, at least there were some people who had no issues with having a hot mayor. Carmen good luck in the future.

Aunty Keawe: One Tradition Ends, Another May Begin
The Hawaiian songstress, "Aunty" Genoa Leilani Keawe, an icon of traditional music in the islands, died Monday at her home on Oahu.
Before her cancer made her too sick to perform, Keawe had been a mainstay every Thursday night at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort. This week, her granddaughter, Pomaika'I, 26, will replace her on stage and try to keep her traditional Hawaiian music alive.

Lindsay & "I Know Who Killed Me" Take Record Razzies
I'm sure most everyone was tuned into the Oscars last night but the Razzies were also given out. Lindsay Lohan won two worst actress trophies for her dual roll in "I know Who Killed Me." The movie also took a record eight awards. Quite a feat for one movie. Not even "Showgirls" or "Battlefield Earth" took more. Way to go Lindsay!! I guess since Lindsay is getting the headlines it will be only a matter of time before Britney flashes the muffin again.

GEN CON 08
I'm a little behind on my news but in case you didn't know pre-registration for Gen con 08 started February 3rd. It's no big deal unless you wanted a hotel room in the convention center, in that case I'm sure you won't get one. Those rooms go like crazy. There was a real ugly war of words last year because of a glitch in the system that let people register early. To get you in the Gen Con frame of mind I'm posting some pictures of booth babes. I hope to see you there.

Lohan Train Wreck Keeps Rolling
If you have glimpsed at Fox News in the last 24 hours you know that Linday Lohan has posed for NY Magazine in a photo shoot almost identical to one Marilyn Monroe's last. Same photographer, same accessories, scarves and jewelry, same poses. Lindsay says she is fascinated by Marilyn. It strikes me as odd considering the path Lindsay is heading down and that Marilyn dies of an overdose. I do have to say I like the tattoo on her booty.

Gen Con Files for Chapter 11
I wonder what brought this on? At least Gen Con Indy is still a go for this year.
SEATTLE (February 15, 2008) Gen Con LLC announced today that it has filed for Chapter 11 protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the State of Washington. This action became necessary as a result of significant unforeseen expenses associated with attempts to expand its core business to encompass externally licensed events. Gen Con’s flagship show, Gen Con Indy, remains a vibrant, profitable event. Gen Con Indy will take place as scheduled August 14–17, 2008, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The protections afforded by Chapter 11 will allow Gen Con to further its efforts to address its liquidity needs, preserve value for its creditors and explore strategic alternatives for the business. “Because the fundamentals of our business are strong; and because our debt problems are challenges mostly linked to one-time events, we feel confident that the profile of our company will benefit under Chapter 11 and come out strong in the end,” said Peter D. Adkison, CEO of Gen Con.
Chapter 11 refers to the section of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code that provides for court-supervised restructuring of companies as they continue to operate normally. This proceeding is intended to help companies to become stronger financially.
Gen Con LLC will continue to operate without interruption during this process and looks forward to an expeditious resolution to the short-term challenges and the ability to focus entirely on producing Gen Con Indy, The Best Four Days in Gaming. International Gen Con events are unaffected by this situation and will continue to operate as scheduled.

One of the Buccaneers favorite's Milly Figuero is in the 2008 Sports illustrated Swimsuit Issue. For the first time in many years I'll need to go check this one out. Herscape News - A New Master Set
If you are a Heroscape player you probably know that Wizards of the Coast has taken over the game from Hasbro. They are planning some new things and one of the things they are looking at is the possibility of a new Master Set. It seems Fans were not all that excited about the Swarm of the Marro Master Set. I have to agree with those players. I liked the variety you got in the Return of the Valkrie, not the alien invasion type feel from Swarm of the Marro. If you want to make your voice heard for the next set them head on over here and post. The Wizards of the Coast people want our input.

Happy 50th Anniversary CFL
The Canadian Football League is celebrating their 50TH Anniversary this year. It's hard to believe the league most probably couldn't name a team from has been around that long. I have been a fan of the league since the early 80's. I always thought it was exciting to watch. When the Oilers signed Warren Moon I knew they would be happy with him. I had seen him kick butt for the Edmonton Eskimos. This past year was one of the most exciting I can remember. I'm looking forward to another exciting 50 years.

RIP Police Chief Brody
"We Need A Bigger Boat!"
Roy Scheider passed away yesterday. I know he was in a lot of movies and had better roles than he did in Jaws, but that movie is from my youth. I experienced Jaws in the theater and it scared the crap out of me. He will always be Police Chief Brody to me. RIP Roy.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Roy Scheider, a one-time boxer whose broken nose and pugnacious acting style made him a star in "The French Connection" and who later uttered one of cinematic history's most memorable lines in "Jaws," has died. He was 75.
Scheider died Sunday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock, hospital spokesman David Robinson said.
The hospital did not release a cause of death, but Scheider had been treated for multiple myeloma at the hospital's Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy for the past two years.
Scheider earned two Academy Award nominations _ a best-supporting nod for 1971's "The French Connection" in which he played the police partner of Oscar winner Gene Hackman, and a best-actor nomination for 1979's "All That Jazz," the semi-autobiographical Bob Fosse film.
But he was perhaps best known for his role as a small-town police chief in Steven Spielberg's 1975 film "Jaws," about a killer shark terrorizing beachgoers _ as well as millions of moviegoers.
In 2005, one of Scheider's most famous lines in the movie _ "You're gonna need a bigger boat" _ was voted No. 35 on the American Film Institute's list of best quotes from U.S. movies.
Widely hailed as the film that launched the era of the Hollywood blockbuster, "Jaws" was the first movie to earn $100 million at the box office.
"I've been fortunate to do what I consider three landmark films," he told The Associated Press in 1986. "'The French Connection' spawned a whole era of the relationship between two policemen, based on an enormous amount of truth about working on the job."
'"Jaws' was the first big, blockbuster outdoor-adventure film. And certainly 'All That Jazz' is not like any old MGM musical. Each one of these films is unique, and I consider myself fortunate to be associated with them."
Born into a working class family in Orange, N.J., he was stricken with rheumatic fever at 6. He spent long periods in bed, becoming a voracious reader. Except for a slight heart murmur, he was pronounced cured at 17. He acquired the distinctive shape of his nose in an amateur boxing match.
After three years in the Air Force, Scheider sought a New York theater career in 1960. His debut came a year later as Mercutio in the New York Shakespeare Festival's production of "Romeo and Juliet." He also played minor roles in such films as "Paper Lion" and "Stiletto." Then he made a breakthrough in 1971 as Jane Fonda's pimp in "Klute."
"He was a wonderful guy. He was what I call 'a knockaround actor,'" Richard Dreyfuss, who co-starred with Scheider and Robert Shaw in "Jaws," told The Associated Press on Sunday.
"A 'knockaround actor' to me is a compliment that means a professional that lives the life of a professional actor and doesn't' yell and scream at the fates and does his job and does it as well as he can," Dreyfuss said.
He also appeared in the films "Marathon Man" as Dustin Hoffman's brother and "Naked Lunch," David Cronenberg's adaptation of William S. Burroughs's novel. He starred in "Jaws 2," which turned out not to be as successful as the original.
TV roles included "SeaQuest DSV" and "Third Watch."
More recently, he played the slick CEO of an insurance company that denies coverage to a young man dying of leukemia in Francis Ford Coppola's "The Rainmaker," and appeared in the direct-to-video "Dracula II: Ascension" and "Dracula III: Legacy."
Scheider was also politically active. He participated in rallies protesting U.S. military action in Iraq, including a massive New York demonstration in March 2003 that police said drew 125,000 chanting activists.
Scheider had a home built for him and his family in 1994 in Sagaponack in the Hamptons on New York's Long Island, where he was active in community issues. Last summer, Scheider announced that he was selling the home for about $18.75 million and moving to the nearby village of Sag Harbor.
Although "Jaws" frightened some moviegoers out of the water for years, Scheider told the AP in 1986 that he considered his role somewhat comedic.
"If you go back and look at the way it's developed and built, that is really a funny character," he said. "He's a fumbler with all kinds of inhibitions and fears _ that's the way we built that character."

Fat Dragon Games "Name the Dragon Contest"
Here are my official entries for the contest. My first choice would be "Shrubber" named after all the shrubbings Tom received. Ask Tom if you need an explanation. My second choice would involve combining Fat Dragon with one of my Favorite college teams the South Carolina Gamecocks. Take the first word from Fat Dragon and the second word from Gamecock and you have it Fatco... uh never mind.

Heroscpae News - Desert Terrain Pack
Heroscapers has been talking to Wizards of the Coast about their plans for Heroscape. Looks like they are still planning on releasing waves in the same manner they have been which is cool. I really do not want to see blind boosters for Heroscape. That's one of the reasons I like the game so much. They want to get into hobby shops but know that master sets will not sell in them, so they are planning smaller terrain expansion packs like the Desert Terrain Pack. You can read the recent post here. Here is a picture of what the desert terrain may look like:
